Hope your first day has gone well. Make sure to get all of your HR stuff taken care of tonight. I know that the manual they gave you is obnoxiously complicated, but given how complicated the servers they build here are, you need to know how to address any issue that may come up. Here are some keywords you should know for day-to-day work:
AI: you probably know the basic idea here, but basically it is a type of data analysis. These computers don’t think for themself or anything, but they apply the idea of a “neural net”, and are built to not just analyze data, but self-analyze their processes to pump out the answers we want faster, or more accurately. This has led to some interesting results in the past, which is why we have the “Application of Empty Data Set”, in order to test that the algorithms aren’t just making stuff up.
Shard: it’s kinda like a server that hosts the AI environments that we build the AI processes with. They are called that because they are typically made by taking one of the other AI systems and branching off a new version. Currently, there are 12 of them that we use in-house for research, but we usually split off a new one for different clients.
